製品の購入経緯
チラシやインターネットの情報でフリーダムHDのことを知りました。従来のスキャナーでは咬合器に付着したままスキャンすることが難しかったり、パテで模型を固定しなければならないといった問題があったため、スキャン精度と作業の利便性を向上させる製品を探していました。
フリーダムHDは台に置くだけでスキャンできるため、作業効率がアップできると考え、購入を決めました。海外製品ではありますが、歯科技工機器を多く扱うデンケン・ハイデンタルの取り扱い製品ということで、アフターフォローの点も期待しました。
実際に使ってみて
大型の咬合器でも楽々と入る間口の広さが魅力です。使用法も簡単なため、比較的CAD歴の浅いスタッフでも短時間かつ直感的に扱えるようになりました。また模型の付け替え等の余分な作業がないため、作業性も向上しました。置くだけでスキャンできるところも気に入っていますし、スキャン時間も十分許容範囲です。
今後改良を期待するところ
スキャン時にはカメラが動く仕組みなので、経年の変化を少し心配しています。スキャンソフトの画面がもう少し洗練されると、より使いやすいと思います。
製品の購入を検討されている方へのアドバイス
現在まで10台ほどのスキャナーを購入してきましたが、ベストバイのひとつです。価格もそれほど高価でもなく、作業効率も良いです。

Q. What led to your decision to purchase the product?
We learned about Freedom HD through a brochure and information on the internet. With our previous scanner, it was difficult to scan a model while it remained mounted in the articulator, and we sometimes needed to secure the model with putty. We were therefore looking for a product that could improve both scanning accuracy and working convenience.
Because Freedom HD allows the model to be scanned simply by placing it on the platform, we believed it would improve efficiency and decided to purchase it. Although it is manufactured overseas, it is supplied by DENKEN-HIGHDENTAL, which has extensive experience with dental laboratory equipment. We therefore also had high expectations for the available after-sales support.
Q. How has your experience been after using it?
One of its greatest advantages is the wide opening, which easily accommodates even large articulators. The operating procedure is straightforward, so even staff members with relatively limited CAD experience learned to use it intuitively within a short period. Productivity has also improved because there is no need to perform additional tasks such as remounting the model.
I particularly like being able to scan simply by placing the model inside, and the scanning time is fully acceptable.
Q. Are there any areas where you would like to see further improvements?
Because the camera moves during scanning, I have some concerns about possible changes resulting from long-term use. I also think the scanner would be even easier to use if the scan-software interface were more refined.
Q. What advice would you give to those considering purchasing this product?
I have purchased approximately 10 scanners to date, and Freedom HD is one of my best purchases. It is not excessively expensive and provides excellent workflow efficiency.
Q. Are there any other products that you are interested in?
The DOF CRAFT milling machine.
